Sometimes specifics don’t matter. And bragging about the benefits of YouTube is one of those times. I could spend time looking up how many users are on YouTube, how many views per day happen, and how fast it’s growing. But there’s no use spending time getting those statistics to convince how awesome YouTube is because you already know! You’re probably on YouTube every day watching content or looking up information and answers. YouTube is the video platform, it’s continually growing, and it can help you grow your law firm.
I’m shocked at how few law firms make use of the power and reach of YouTube. Visual is the most powerful form of persuasion, and YouTube can help you visually get your message across to future clients. Here are three ways YouTube can help you grow your law firm.
1. Social Proof
Social proof is one of the most effect persuasion strategies. Potential clients seeing other people getting desired results from your law firm can help convince them to call and hire your law firm for their own legal needs. Some of the most effective YouTube videos are when personal injury attorneys interview clients after they’ve just received their big settlement checks. Smiles on their faces, big cutout over-sized checks in their hands, ranting and raving about the success they had at your law firm. Those are powerful videos! Potential clients with their own injury claims see those success videos and can picture themselves working with your law firm to win their settlement. Customer testimonials are a hugely powerful form of marketing and a YouTube channel is the perfect place to build up a list of those social proof testimonial videos.
2. Get Found
YouTube videos can also help your law firm get found by people who have never heard of you before. People search online all the time for legal topics, and if you make educational and informational videos on those topics, you give yourself a chance to get found on those searches. And some of that traffic can turn into clients for your law firm.
Creating educational and informational videos is a great marketing strategy for law firms, it’s inexpensive, and and it can help you get found on both Google searches and YouTube searches when people are looking for information about your area of the law.
What should you make videos about? I recommend writing down ten questions you hear over and over from clients about your area of the law. And then make some simple, focused educational videos answering those common questions. And if you’re a local law firm, a local bent to the video topics should help separate you from all the videos out there and make your content more relevant to those local search users, and relevancy helps with pushing your videos up the rankings on those searches. But also experiment with some non-local topics as well, as they could get more traffic, and some of that traffic will end being local traffic anyway.
3. Attracting Talent
One of the key aspects of growing a law firm is attracting and retaining great talent. And YouTube can help you do that. The reach of YouTube is powerful and you never know who is going to see one of your videos and share it with someone that ends up wanting to work at your firm. And videos can stay on YouTube for as long as you like, so when you are hiring, prospects can search for information about your firm, find your YouTube page, and get to know you and your firm and get motivated to apply and try to get hired.
YouTube channels are part of a company’s brand, and it’s no different with law firms. Your brand will help you attract talent and your videos will always be out there, getting in front of great talent, and showing them that you’re a great place to work.
