AdWords (and Bing) are the most effective way to advertise your moving company. You can’t do better than getting in front of people who are looking for exactly what you offer at the exact time they are searching for it.
Search engine marketing works and it’s the most effective way to make the phone ring.
However, if no one clicks on your search ads, you’re not going to get any leads or phone calls. For search engine marketing to be effective, you have to get people to click on your ads and go to your website.
Great ad copy can help you get a great clickthrough rate.
And one way you can write great ad copy is by using social proof.
There’s a powerful book out there called Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, by Robert Cialdini. The book is about how persuasion works. One tactic Cialdini covers is social proof, which is basically showing the person you’re trying to persuade that other people just like them have done whatever it is that you’re selling.
So if you run a moving company and you want me to click on your ad instead of all the competitors listed on the search results page, use social proof to attract and earn my click.
Write ad copy like:
- Trusted By Over 2,000 Oklahomans Every Year.
- We’ve Done Over 7,500 Moves For Oklahoma Residents Since 2004.
- The Official Mover Of Oklahoma City Public Schools.
And of course only make truthful claims.
As a homeowner looking for a moving company, all you really care about when you look for a mover is finding a reputable company that will get the job done for a fair price. One of best ways to convey that you’re that company, is to use social proof and show prospective customers that other people just like them, their local peers, have used your company successfully.
If I go to Google and search oklahoma city movers and see an ad that says “We’ve Done Over 7,500 Moves For Oklahoma Residents Since 2004,” I’ll immediately be put at ease and think “you know what, if that many people in OKC just like me have used this company, then that’s the kind of moving company I’m looking for.” And then I’ll click on your ad, call your business, and as long as the price seems reasonable I’ll probably book my move on that first phone call.
Use social proof in all your marketing efforts, especially your search engine ads.
And consider putting that Facebook feature on your website that shows the profile pictures of people who have liked your Facebook page. Seeing those people is great social proof.
